water bills

Would someone please explain to me how my water bills can be exactly the same (to the fils) every three months since March 2006? At times I have been away for 3 weeks, but never a variation in the bill. Does this happen to everyone? T

It doesn't seem normal.

They do the same thing to me here in the UK, apparently they don't take a meter reading every time they send a bill but just base the amount charged on the previous quarter bill (i.e. they probably take a reading just once a year and divide it up).
Maybe you can call them and tell them you were away and ask that they take a new meter reading? Or maybe not?

Is it possible that the water bill is divided among all the tenents in your building? But then, that doesn't seem normal either. There should be some fluctuation.

We've learned to monitor our own meter and record monthly usage after paying for water flowing from broken pipes. The water company believes us when we get a strange amount our bill now; one of the few municipality offices that are easy to deal with.

ASH - water bills are individual to each apartment. Anon - it is since March 2006. It is only JD 5.221 every 3 months so am not grumbling - and please no jokes I do shower every day!!! Just wondered how water meters are monitored. Electricity bills vary every month. T

I inquired about this after it happened to us a few times and that did not seem normal, they said they sometimes were not able to take the reading every time, so they just divide the bill by the number of quarters they missed the reading on, and thuis end up having the same fgure down to each fils.

WELL, if u'd read the back of the bill, you'd know its some sort of a "minimum charge"

If ur consumption exceeds this minimum charge, u'd get a different price. this is how it goes.

BTW, this is applied only in Amman. and not all over jordan, its related to the water company operating inside amman.
