Contest: Which One is From Your Neighborhood?

Is there anyone else who is noticing the state of our garbage bins and the trash around the city?? I thought that we should hold a contest and see who can identify their neighborhood bin. The winner gets.........to either pick up the trash, or buy the municipality a new bin!! kag

I hope that for newly developed residential areas, that they regulate garbage collection in a way similar to how it's done in some other countries like the US. In the US, houses should keep their garbage in their own big garbage bins and then they should put them out on the street in front of their house Sunday nights so that they can be picked up on Mondays. Overflowed garbage bins are not picked up and trash is left in front of the house (basically you'll be ruining your own house if you put an overflowed garbage bin).

In apartment buildings, there is always a gated area about 5x5m where a huge trash container sits. Every Monday too the garbage collectors come and pick it up and empty it.

You missed the one across the street from my house, but I think one fo them is on my commute route down to the first circle every morning :). I've been telling my Mom about the out-of-hand trash since we got here... And, what's with the broken wheels on all of the receptacles? It's like they're all listing like drunken sailors.

they used to change these things all the time. we had one close to our house that was literlly brand spanking new and turned into one of those in your photo in a matter of a few days. people knock them down, beggers knock them down, garbage collecter trucks knock them down.

Bravo KAG - you've got people's attention! Hopefully there will be enough interest that people will actually do something about it, like demand that the municipality clean up and replace broken bins! ASH

Dear anonymous,
All you need is a camera in the car with you. The bins are everywhere and you can find them with very little driving. In order though to have a "cross section", (my scientific approach) I did go to 3 different areas but I could have just as well stayed in Shemisani! kag
