the problems of living in an apartment building

I live in an apartment building which is divided into 12. We all pay monthly for the guard, electricity, elevator, cleaning and routine maintenance etc and occasionally have to pay more for painting the stairways, plants and other things that crop up. Now we are having to come up with JD 400 each for some major repairs in the garage area. Everyone is very cooperative except for one person who has not paid the monthly charges for over a year and has not come up with the maintenance payment. In fact he now owes about JD 1,000.

The apartment he owns is not his main place of residence so he is not there most of the time. He uses it for various activities. He is the owner of a bank and is extremely wealthy - how do we get the money out of him?????? T

T if he rented the apartment in the last 4 years i believe you can make a one sided eviction order, but if he has been renting the apt for longer than that there is little you can do without going through a lengthy trial .

Sorry ...hope it works out well

There has to be a reason as to why this guy is refusing to pay.Find out what the reason is and then take it from there, good luck.

I think if the guy doesn't respond to your requests that he pay, maybe you should get a lawyer to send a payment demand letter, and if he still doesn't respond then as a last option you should consider filing a lawsuit against him. I'm sure that when he recieves notification of the suit he will probably decide that it is wiser just to pay up, and so you can drop the whole thing.

thanks for the advice everyone. He actually owns the apartment does not rent it. Will try and get a letter together but it just amazes me that someone who owns a bank and is a millionaire will not pay his debts. Certainly would not put my money in his bank. T

T, the GrandBeans face this same issue with multiple people in the building. Be glad it's only one. You know the excuses, I don't use the elevator, I don't want to pay for a guard, etc... Pitiful.

T, you can actually get a court order of a municipality order demanding that he pay or they will put a lien against his apartment. Ask your lawyer or if you are brave enough go visit the municipality office.

Peace
